Minesweeper

Minesweeper is the timeless game of logic and nerve, faithfully recreated here with smooth animation, a campaign of steadily harder boards and plenty of options to customise. The goal is simple to state and hard to master: clear every square on the grid without detonating a hidden mine, using the numbers you uncover — each showing how many mines touch that square — to deduce where the danger lies. Beginners get a gentle way to learn; veterans get a proper brain-teaser.

The trick is to work from the numbers you’re sure about. Flag the mines you can prove, then use those flags to safely open the squares around them. When you’re truly stuck, look for a low-risk guess rather than a coin-flip in the middle of the board.

How to play Minesweeper

Every number tells you how many mines touch that square, and that’s all you need. Open up some space first, then look for numbers whose mines are already accounted for — if a “1” is touching exactly one unopened square, that square is the mine; flag it. Conversely, once you’ve flagged all the mines around a number, every other square touching it is safe to open. Learn the common “1-2-1” edge pattern and you’ll clear big stretches on logic alone. When you’re genuinely stuck, take your guess in the most open area, where the odds are best.
